Agile Applied to Business Models

Global interconnection has accelerated consumption patterns in the same way. In the past, one collection per year was released; now, if you do not launch one per season, you are out of the market. Has this same speed been transmitted to teams and the way they design products?
TOPIC: Innovation and Entrepreneurship
FORMAT: 4-hour Workshop
DIFFICULTY: Intermediate
The objective of this training is to apply new agile methodologies to the business model in order to obtain a competitive advantage in the company’s sector:
- Energising real production processes.
- Implementing these methodologies and creating a company culture.
- Learning and applying agile methodologies for innovation in an engaging and practical way.
What will I learn?
This subject has been divided into two different blocks:
Digital Transformation & Agile Methodologies
As an introduction, we will study the market background that led to the development of agile methodologies.
Digital transformation is a cross-cutting topic that is often confused with agile methodologies, largely because agile project management procedures are being applied to decentralised projects (teams located in multiple locations around the world or team members working remotely).
Within agile methodologies, we will focus on the differences in project management compared to the traditional system and we will use new tools that allow us to modify the project as it progresses. We will study the KANBAN system, using visual process management, and explore its digital application with Trello.
Applications of Agile Methodologies to the Business Model
Using the Business Model Canvas as a tool to analyse the company’s production process or service, and applying the same tool to the sector, we will work through the different segments of the model until we find a competitive advantage by applying what was learned in the first part of the workshop.
Objectives
By the end of this subject, students are expected to be able to:
- Understand the advantages of project management techniques when applying agile methodologies.
- Analyse the company and the sector using the Business Model Canvas and the Sector Canvas Model.
- Design a production process or competitive advantage by applying agile methodologies.
- Design the implementation of agile methodologies in the company as a real case of developing a competitive advantage.
Methodology
The agile methodologies module will be delivered in a 4-hour in-person class. Students will study the topics related to the module’s content and complete the exercises and practical cases proposed during the session.
